3 Big Steps in Building Self-Confidence

What does this mean? It means your confidence in your abilities have suffered a tremendous blow. You might have felt that you're just not good at doing anything and that it will be useless to make any attempt at all.
So, how do you get past this disturbing predicament? How can you convince yourself that you still have a shot at life and that you have the ability to make things happen?
The good news is, there are ways that can help in building self-confidence. It may take some time to accomplish but will, nonetheless help in building one's self-image. Building self-esteem does not happen overnight and it requires commitment and determination. In order to build self-esteem, you must delegate yourself as the master of your own life, and along with that is the silent commitment to seize every single moment as an opportunity to change for the better.
Take the three important steps in building self-confidence and discover what you are really worth.
Step 1: Get into the Right Mindset. Do you know the feeling when you are set to do a specific task but can't get it done despite all efforts exerted? It is upsetting and frustrating especially if you know that you are giving all your time and talent to do the task. The problem could be traced to not having the right mindset before setting out to do the task.
The same applies in the process of building your self-esteem. Before you take on the different techniques or methods to help you restore your confidence in yourself, you should prepare yourself for the long journey. You need to sit back, make an honest assessment of your situation - where you are and where you want to go, set realistic goals and commit yourself to achieving them.
To help yourself get into the right mindset, consider these five things:
    1. List Your Ten Accomplishments. By making this list, you are reminding yourself of what you have been able to do when your confidence has not been shattered yet. The list can include accomplishments as simple as passing an exam to get a driver's license or contributed to relief efforts in the community. You should make this list available for you to check from time to time.

    2. Highlight Your Strengths. For this task, you can ask your close friends on what they consider as your strengths and weaknesses. Knowing these, you would have an idea of how to handle the opportunities and threats that will come your way.

    3. Set Realistic Goals. Your goals should be doable, within your capabilities. Don't aim for something that is way out of your league. You can do this when you have solidified your confidence in your abilities.

    4. Manage Your Mind. At this stage, you should know how to block your brain off, of negative thoughts that would destroy your confidence. You should learn how to dismiss negativity and focus on positive things.

    5. Declare your Commitment. This is critical - you should make an honest commitment to yourself that you will see through the process from beginning to end.
Step 2: Get on with the Process. Once you have prepared yourself in having the right mindset, then you are ready to take the step and begin with the process. It's important to remember that you can start with small efforts and it should not make you feel frustrated. Until your belief in yourself has been restored, then you can tackle more challenges that you feel your abilities are ready to handle.
Step 3. Welcome All Challenges. In the process, you will be able to slowly build your self-esteem regardless how small the results may seem. With these small victories, you will be able to position yourself into welcoming bigger challenges. And as you take on new and bigger challenges, you are in effect telling yourself that you have the abilities and the confidence to take on the challenges.
Self-confidence stems from self-dominion. By taking the right actions, you are affirming your self-esteem. And having the right level of self-esteem will impact your life and everything you want to accomplish.
